Motivation plays a massive role in sport and sport participation. With so much sport in the media, people think they are incapable of participating, not living up to expectations or super star standards.
Motivation is both internal and external.
Internal motivation comes from the personal sense of wanting to play, to participate and to achieve in sport.
External motivation is society encouragement, environmental factors, people encouraging you to play in their team.
There is also positive and negative motivation, primary and secondary motivation.
Encouragement plays the most important role in participation in sport.
More than every before, women are being encouraged to hit the ball too. And its about time.
Our inner child seeks the pleasure and achievement of sport in our later life too. Sport should not just be promoted as a young persons game, but older adults can play too!
Of course it is important you mix people with similar abilities, but having an older more experienced participant can also be advantageous.
